David's Old Silver Swim
My uncle, David Garber, was diagnosed with ALS in 2009. He is remarkable and inspires me to live my best life every day. As many of you know, David’s 10th Old Silver Swim, an ALS fundraiser, originally scheduled for August 8th, can not take place due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While there is a virtual swim to continue to raise awareness, spirits, and funds, I would also like to help raise money for my uncle’s favorite charity, CCALS (Compassionate Care ALS).
Last year, the Swim raised $150,000 for CCALS! We hope with your generosity, we can come close to that number this year. CCALS is based in West Falmouth and has been extremely important in helping not only David but also more than a thousand ALS patients. The charity provides goods, services, guidance, emotional and spiritual support to ALS patients and their families. For example, CCALS has been instrumental in securing and maintaining the communication device David uses to “write” by activating letters on a keyboard using his eyes (rather than fingers).
Please consider buying a box of Yummy Mummy brownies for yourself or as a gift for a friend, loved one or someone that just needs a little sweetness right now. Brownies will be shipped and you can even include a gift note. All proceeds from the online David’s Old Silver Swim Brownie sale will be donated to the swim and ultimately, to CCALS. Online fundraiser runs thru Saturday, August 8.
If you are local to Westboro, you can also stop into the bakery on Friday, August 7 when all bakery proceeds that day will be donated.
With love and hope,
